Expanded Cinema:Hindsight

Exploring new directions for cinema, Hindsight is a film projected
across multiple screens in an immersive sound environment. Based on
a contemporary version of Orpheus and Eurydice, the story unfolds in
Bristol cityscapes where past and present merge with myth and memory
fuses with desire. Within this, Hindsight develops reflections on the
nature of film form itself. Screenings have taken place at a number
of academic conferences as well as at the Watershed, Bristol.
Film duration: 25 minutes
Produced by Alison Sterling and filmed by Terry Flaxton of Ignition
Films, working with John Adams, Senior Lecturer at the Department of
Drama, University of Bristol.
Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research
Council, Hindsight is an ongoing collaboration between academics, professional
filmmakers and broadcast television companies.
